Slovak Economic Association Meeting (SEAM 2023)

in cooperation with the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Ekonómia, o.z.
and the EDAMBA conference

Banská Bystrica, September 13-14, 2023

The Slovak Economic Association (SEA) is soliciting submissions for its 2023 annual conference to be held in-person at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica on September 13-14, 2023. Research papers from all fields of economics and finance are welcome. The conference will be a joint event with the annual conference of the University of Economics in Bratislava for PhD students and post-doctoral scholars EDAMBA.

Gabriel Felbermayr has been Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna and University Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) since 1 October 2021. Gabriel Felbermayr holds various roles and positions. The most important are: Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, Chairman of the Statistics Council of the Statistics Austria Federal Institute, Associate Editor of the "European Economic Review". His research and consulting work focuses on issues of international trade theory and policy, labor market research, European economic integration, and current economic policy issues.

Robert Slonim is a Professor in the Economics Discipline Group at University of Technology Sydney. Before joining UTS, he held academic positions at the University of Sydney, the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Pittsburgh. He is best recognised as a pioneer in the area of experimental economics. In his capacity as the Research Director of the Behavioural Economics Team of Australia (BETA) in the Prime Minister and Cabinet, he directed numerous behavioural economics projects across Commonwealth government agencies.

Submission Procedure

Please submit a paper in pdf format by June 18, 2023, via the conference submission system. Decisions about acceptance will be communicated by July 9, 2023. The conference will be held in English. Proposals for complete sessions dedicated to specific topics are welcome.

SEA Award for Young Economists

The Slovak Economic Association will award a prize of €500 to the best paper authored by economist(s) who are 35 or younger. In case of joint papers, all co-authors have to fulfil this condition. Only papers presented at the conference will be considered for the Award. Authors who wish to be considered for the SEA Award for Young Economists must indicate this in the submission process.

Registration

The regular registration fee is €50. The fee is waived for SEA members and students. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.
Non-presenting participants are also welcome.
All participants need to register via the online form before July 30, 2023.
Presenters may be asked to serve as discussants. The organizers reserve the right to restrict the number of participants due to capacity constraints.
